Windows 8 will call on UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface), the successor to BIOS which is already a pre-requisite for the operating system to allow secure booting. This will allow Microsoft to use the GPT partition (GUID Partition Table), theoretically allowing for drives up to 9.4 ZB to be managed.
