| | I have used Windows 8 off and on since February 29. My reaction is that there is nothing in Windows 8 that excites me and makes me want to leave Windows 7 behind. I know the Metro Apps can be used by desktop, laptops, and tablets. But for me, using a very fast Dell XPS desktop, the Windows 8 Metro Apps seem gimmicky. I want to remain open minded, but my reaction is not what it was when Windows 7 was released. I used Windows 7 from it's infancy and it always excited me. I still love it and it fulfills all my PC needs. As far as a tablet, I think it would be very difficult for me to ditch my iPad 2 and now my new IPad in favor of a Microsoft based tablet. |

| | I sold my Ipad 1 and have been using my Acer iconia tab w500 with Windows 8 consumer preview installed for a couple of weeks. I've been very pleased so far. It loads a lot faster than Windows 7. Desktop is up and ready to use in 8 seconds. Applications open very quickly. The only negative I've noticed is that after my tablet has been in sleep mode it takes about 30 seconds before it connects. Also the touch screen is not quite as responsive as the Ipad, but still good enough. Looking forward to the official release. |

| | Morning.
I put Windows 8 on my Dell Inspiron 1090 – the convertible tablet. The install, as a fresh OS, went on without a hitch. Unfortunately, that is the end of the good news. Finding things is almost impossible. You have to actually make your own shortcuts to your programs and accessories that you use frequently. And using a stylus isn't all that great either. It frequently doesn't register that you "clicked" on anything. It is almost as bad as just using your fingers. It is the same stylus that I use with my iPhone, so I know it is working as it should. I am about ready to reprogram the tablet back to its' original software so I don't lose anymore time – which is a very precious commodity around the home office. Long story short – Windows Metro doesn't work for me. I wouldn't buy it the way it is now. I want something more User Friendly…. |

| | So it's been 2 weeks since I loaded the Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my PC and my Windows 8 Tablet (ExoPC) and I wanted to take stock of what I am feeling about the experience in real time. In addition, there was a collision of necessity and opportunity because I sold my iPad 2 last week. This freed me from any external Apple Tablet mojo for the past week or so. So, how is Windows 8 testing going for me? I'll be honest, not so good. Windows 8… Read original blog post
