An Austrian hacker claims to have written a bootkit that circumvents a key security feature in Windows 8.The researcher said the bootkit didn’t attack the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface that will replace BIOS in Windows 8 and is intended to prevent malware being loaded into the system during boot up, and instead relies on older code in the OS.

MS do have his work and probably are working around it. As there is only a developer preview currently available – the product hasn't reached even Alpha stage yet, let alone Beta, there isn't much pressure to get a patch out; it is for development purposes only and shouldn't be running on any production systems.

Recently the news Windows 8's security features have been Peter Kleissner start the 'bootkit' program break, but recently said that he called 'Stoned Lite' is for the bootkit old BIOS-based boot system to work, can not break Microsoft's new security features.

he said, in the traditional hard disk MBR boot process will not be security check, but Windows 8, "Safe Boot" feature requires the use of UEFI, and start the process all the parts must be digitally signed, so this protection mechanism is still safe of. But he did not rule out the possibility that a new mechanism of weakness. Peter will be held November 25 at MalCon Congress of bootkit procedures and related papers, to discuss how to counter such attacks and launch malicious programs.
