I just recently bought a used copy of Windows Vista Home Basic from www.ebay.com for about $40.
In the description on eBay, all seemed to be a genuine copy of windows vista home basic (i.e. the condition it was in, specs of processors needed, etc.)so i placed a bid of $35.
A few days later, it had told me that I had won the auction for $40. Once the package had came, I was eager to install it on my system but I had to wait a few hours until my wife came home (she wanted to back up her personal files).
After dinner, i plugged the windows vista disc into my xp-media center editon 2005 pc. The installation process went smoothly, but just as i had pressed the "restart now" button my hdd crashed.
On my laptop, i e-mailed the guy back saying "wtf, this thing f****** blew up my hdd!!" he e-mailed me a few days later saying his wife was in the army and she was dying and he needed to have extra money to pay for her medical bills.
he gave me back the money (grudgingly) and everything was fine. In bed, my wife (who had read the response over my shoulder) recommended me that we have a friend who's wife's in the army.
i said "no way, that can't be him". a few days later we went over to his house and we told him the situation and asked him if it was from him. he said yes, and he said he was really sorry.
we gave him about $100 and told him we hoped everything would be okay.
After that, i we went out to eat. When I came back home, I had noticed that my pc was micracously on and runninng a copy of home basic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i would love to repay this guy by giving him a free copy of windows vista (he's a computer savvy).
