XP to Vista X64 Switch
by: Spydah

I made exactly the same switch a couple of years ago, and have no regrets either. I knew my olf HP wouldn't work, but it was due to be replaced anyway. The DVD burner would only read, not write, so had to be replaced also. No big deal. The one that fooled me for a while was the Ethernet connection on the motherboard. Vista wouldn't recognise it, so I installed a Gigabit card. The only remaining problem is the software which came with my Pinnacle TV viewer card. Pinnacle keep promising they're developing a 64-bit version, but I won't hold my breath. In the meantime, I have to use Windows Media Centre, which isn't nearly as good.

Overall though I'm happy too.
