Windows Vista Update

downloading pictures on my acer laptop

i have a vivitar 6200w digital camera, and everytime i put my one gig memory card into my computer and click on the icon it keeps telling me to insert my card, and i've already done so.

so how do i download pictures from my digital camera. i am running windows vista but i cant figure out how to download my digital camera pics please help me
