Microsoft and Nokia come together to reveal new Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 920 running Windows Phone 8
Nokia and Microsoft came together today to announce the new line of Nokia Lumia phones. The new line includes the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 and will run Windows Phone 8.
Nokia took great pains to stress the sophistication of the phone’s camera for both pictures and video.
In addition, the Lumias will provide Nokia PureMotion HD+, Offline maps, free voice navigation, indoor mapping and augmented reality.
For processing power, the phones will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor which in their words is “Up to 30 percent more battery efficient than quad-core alternatives.”
The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with built-in wireless charging.
For the actual charging stations, Nokia has alliances Fatboy (among others). They are the makers of the Fatboy recharge pillow.
Nokia has built relationships with Virgin Airlines and The Coffee to allow for wireless charging on planes and in coffee shops. I’m sure we will hear more about those relationships in detail in the future.
Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore also spoke about Windows Phone 8.
He stressed that Microsoft had over 100,000 Windows Phone applications and that Windows Phone 8 will run Windows Phone 7 applications.
Apart from the standard Windows Phone 8 demo, there were some new revelations. There is a screenshot feature in Windows Phone 8. The Home button and power activates the screenshots feature.
He took a screenshot during the demo and posted it to Twitter (below)
