Today is a big day for millions of Technet and MSDN subscribers.

You should be able to download the final versions of Windows 8 via your subscription access at some point today.

This applies only to developers and IT professionals.

August 15th: Developers will be able to download the final version of Windows 8 via your MSDN subscriptions.
August 15th: IT professionals testing Windows 8 in organizations will be able to access the final version of Windows 8 through your TechNet subscriptions.

    Cool. The real question is how long it will take for someone to leak it to the torrent sites, and for someone to crack windows and its activation features. (Not condoning piracy!).

        I love people who read the name of an operating system and think yep, that’s the one. I have had people over the years in my office who decide to upgrade their work PC’s on their own, so they get things like Windows 7 Starter and wonder why they have a limited experience. My point? Retail versions were not available yet, they will be today and I have been waiting (like many have been) to give them a test drive. There is a difference though, they aren’t all completely equal experiences. Now, if it would just hurry up and show up on technet for me…

          can you update us when it becomes available on technet? We can then time how long it takes before that build makes it to piratebay ;) .

             How does one ensure they will have access to it via technet??

              the download will become available from the download section once Microsoft uploads it. If you are a technet subscriber, I would login and check the section where you can download operating systems.

                I am only watching now and then, but I’ll try to set the page to auto-refresh now and then (of course then you know MS is going to do things in such a way that it doesn’t show on auto refresh or something…). I am watching my technet and my MSDN just in case one is first… when I have a chance to look. As big as this is I kinda wish that someone somewhere could just send out an e-mail when it is actually out.

    It leaked days ago! First the Enterprise N for europe edition then the complete Enterprise version for both 32 and 64Bit editions…

    Downloaded today’s release installed it and in the process of removing it. The last one worked and I was planning on buying it as soon as I could. The one I got today is not recognizing hardware, drivers wont work and the main thing I don’t have a clock and calender on my desktop. I had 2 blue screens in 30 mins ,first since xp. Instead of trying to copy everyone they should try to make one that works instead of another ME, of course a lot of people don’t know what that is.

        Windows recommends you partition hdd or put it on another hdd. I had replaced the hdd in a fairly new laptop and since I didn’t have original os I figured I would use that one. The blue screens came from windows updates installing drivers that were corrupt.I decided to put it on another hdd so I could get it to work, but, windows will not let you install enterprise on a usb or firewire hdd. The release preview worked great, but enterprise will not recognize sound and wifi keeps cutting off and corrupt drivers just made me decide against buying it. I will give some time for updates but I dont feel like spending too much time with it.
