Microsoft just announced their acquisition of Perceptive Pixel.

Perceptive Pixel is a company that has been recognized as a leader in interaction design and the production of high-performance multi-touch platforms.

The company is perhaps best known for the 82-inch multitouch display that Microsoft demoed at MWC.

The company was founded in 2006 and shipped their first multi-touch workstations and large wall solutions in 2007. They gained widespread recognition for transforming the way CNN covered the historic 2008 U.S. Presidential election.

Perceptive Pixel is a privately held company with headquarters in New York City and offices in these metropolitan areas: Portland, OR; Mountain View, CA; Atlanta, GA; Los Angeles, CA; Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C. Through our partners, we also have a presence in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

It’s an interesting acquisition for Microsoft since they are looking to dominate the multi-touch space. Obviously this acquisition opens up a ton of hardware opportunities for the software giant.

They are now free to build different touch devices with different form factors. In addition, now they can take key pieces of technolgy and patents from this company and use them to protect and improve their Surface Tablets.

Interesting…

Ermmm, I am confused, this blog is about MS acquisition of Perceptive Pixel, and your all banging on about Chrome Apples…. weird…..

I have always been a Windows man, but simply because that is what I started out with, and since I enjoy building my own systems Windows is really the only option (yes, I do know about Linux, but I like quality AND hardware compatibility to go hand-in-hand, you just can’t get that with Linux to date).

Having said all that you cannot dismiss the fact that Apple Hardware is PURE Excellence – period.

Still not sure why we are banning on about Chrome Apples in reply to this blog about MS acquisition of Perceptive Pixel, which to me sound like MS is really serious not only about Windows8, but also about tablets, and as said why would they stop at tablets – let’s just build everything!

LOL, in reply to myself, this is not meant to be a reply to Ziad Bashir, it was just a comment for the original question….

Are you kidding me!? So if I cut power during a windows update, not my fault? Accidentally formatting a boot drive? Accidentally delete system files? Flash the wrong BIOS? Install improper drivers? What about disconnecting a PS2 mouse or keyboard? What happens again? Oh yea, WINDOWS CRASHES
