There’s a new version of Google Chrome OS – remember Chrome OS?

Google just released an update through its developer channel, called “Aura.”

This new update makes Chrome OS look more like….well… an OS.

I have been VERY critical and disappointed with Chrome OS over the past few years.

In this new version, there’s actually a desktop, with a desktop background and there are icons at the bottom on the left side, and a Quick Launch-style menu on the right side.

Now you can have multiple windows open at once — which makes multitasking a whole lot easier.

No. I’ve been using Aura on my CR-48 for a while (dev channel). It’s basically lipstick on a pig. It’s still slow for daily use. Basically, it is an EXTREMELY crippled windows 7. Better than it was, but I’m not convinced there is a future for it just yet.

  I agree, until we don’t have fast internet connectivity everywhere, for a low price or even free, products such these will die quickly because they are simply ahead of its time.
  
  This reminds me of oracle, back in the late 90′s when they were dreaming about cloud powered software and operating systems. Of course this did not materialise due to slow dial up connections everyone had. Their ideas where ahead of their time swell.
