In Windows 8, you can also configure general settings

You can get to this from the Charms > Settings > More PC Settings > General

You can adjust the time and time zones, switching between applications, auto-correcting spelling and a shortcut to the language option.

I will review the language option in a later post.

Pretty straightforward.
