Exclusive Rumor: Kinect 2 to accompany launch of Windows 8
Now this is a really interesting source from my tipster “Ryan”.
I have no way of corroborating or verifying this so believe at your own risk.
He says the following:
Microsoft are working on the sequel to the home version of Kinect which will be called the Kinect 2.
The Kinect 2 will be between 40 to 60% smaller than the current Kinect and may have a totally different sleeker design.
The purpose of the redesign will be to get it onto corporate and home desktops/laptops without a large footprint – basically consumers will be able to look at it like a webcam.
The smaller version of the kinect will then be integrated with Windows 8 and you will be able to use it for security authentication as well as other advanced operating system features in development.
He says right now, Microsoft is working very hard to incorporate the use of “basic hand gestures” into the operating system as the first step towards making Windows easier to use.
Also look for voice commands for basic OS functionality as another feature that Microsoft will promote heavily..
Pretty interesting…
